Gumbo of crafts down at 2007 Jazzfest

Day of the Dead crafts at Jazzfest - Blogger Amanda Anderson
Blogger Amanda Anderson has the best blog I have found for covering the Jazzfest arts and crafts scene. Check out some of her interesting posts about the new Crafts of Latin America tent. She found a giant Elmo pinata from a Kenner artisan, Kekoa, the palmetto-frond hat weaver, and in Cynthia Ramirez’s booth the Dia De Los Muertos altar, a Colombian tatterer, Clarence “Junior” Martin and his handmade accordions , and in the Contemporary Crafts section she liked Mark Orr’s “menagerie of ravens”. My favorite is the Rocketman- Jimmy Descant, as you know I love artists who recycle materials. Jimmy’s “I Am Not Katrina, Katrina Is Not Me” sculpture is pretty amazing.

Well I wish I were down there but thanks to Amanda’s stories and photos I feel like I’m getting a good taste of the gumbo.
